I’ve been asked quite a bit lately for my story, so here it is.

I’m Laura — a Certified member of IOSH, an Associate member of the IFSM, and the founder of SHE does safety.

I set up SHE after almost falling out of love with the safety profession. Truth be told, I was overbooked, constantly stretched, and losing the battle of being a present mum while trying to give clients the focus and care they deserved.

With over 17 years as a health, safety, and fire consultant, I’ve always been driven by a genuine love of working with people — getting to know their businesses, understanding how they operate, and focusing on what actually matters, rather than just ticking boxes. That’s why SHE was born.

I’ve never believed in the traditional tick-box approach to safety. I’m passionate about enthusing and inspiring teams to go beyond compliance so they can see the real value good safety practice brings — to their people and their business. These are always the most rewarding clients to work with.

Over the last few months, I’ve fallen back in love with safety, now delivering work in line with the vision I always had:

Collaborative. Bespoke. Simple.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum of two wild boys. You’ll often find me at the gym, practising yoga on the beach, or laughing along to podcasts while out in nature or arriving on site. (I’d love to say I read, but that passion has taken a back seat for now — I’ll pick it up again when the boys turn 18!🤣)

Something extra about me: I’m a trainee counsellor and I’m about to start studying at Level 3. This training has deeply improved my listening and helper skills, encouraging me to step into other people’s worlds with empathy — something I now bring into every consultation I deliver.

My coffee of choice is an Americano — always back to first principles ☕️

Keep an eye out for Richard’s story next.
